Atkins diet
I believe that everyone heard of Atkins diet. It is absolutely up for debate whether this diet is beneficial or not but it is definitely most mentioned one. Atkins diet for a long time was most popular diet plans of all.
Several millions of people tried this diet when it was the most popular in 2003. Main belief was to reduce the carbohydrate levels and to allow people to consume high fat foods. The Atkins diet diet offered many great things but the coolest was that you could eat cheese, steaks and eggs.
It more looks like completely effortless diet, a dream diet. No one would avoid eating eggs and steak lunches and loosing fat at the same time. But there is no bread with that steak and no salads at all. In the beginning this is great, but later it becomes real problem. What is amount of meat that some individual can eat without any veggies?

Well, the concept was by reducing carbohydrates, dieter’s body will be forced to exploit stored fat so it can make it throughout the day. This is indicating that that you are forbidden to eat potatoes, pastries, rice, milk, pasta, most of vegetables, fruits and definitely no sugar beverages or junk food. Alternatively, you can eat cheese, chicken, fish, meat, mayonnaise, eggs, butter and cream. For the first two weeks you are allowed to eat all this stuff and this is called the Induction Phase.
Second phase starts after two weeks, of course, and it is called Ongoing Weight Loss. This phase allows you to raise your carbs intake by 5 grams each day; it means that you start from 20 grams each day predetermined by the Induction Phase. The dieter must determine upper level of carbohydrates usage before body starts to be incapable of losing 1-3lbs per week. Dieticians call this Critical Carbohydrate Level for Losing Weight and that is the point where raise of carbs stops.
This is not the last phase although it is expected to last until weight loss goal is reached. When you are supposed to lose 5-10lbs to obtain desired weight you are entering the third, last stage of your diet. This Phase is called Pre-Maintenance and it mission is to boost your carbohydrate consumption by 10 grams per day to slow down weight loss progression.
Now, you must intake 30 grams of pasta a day. Last Phase is called Lifetime Maintenance and a lifetime of consuming about 90 grams of carbs each day for the rest of your life. Reducing intake of carbs from 250 grams to a lesser amount of 100 grams for the rest of your life can become difficult for any dieter.
The Atkins diet has some side effects and it varies for all users. Some of dieters that tried this diet did just fine, some of them, because of all fat food they ate, had heart problems and some suffered kidney infections because of high protein composition. Considering that body moves into starvation form, general weakness and dizziness are expected. Osteoporosis and constipation should also be expected because a lack of vegetables and fruits and calcium drop.
